License to Sail is an application designed to help prepare you for the USCG License Exams.
What sets License to Sail apart from other test prep resources? License to Sail offers a mobile-friendly experience, allowing you to access the service on the go, online or offline, supported across premier platforms like iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. Being tailored exclusively for Apple products enhances the quality of your study sessions. Additionally, this application is proudly crafted in the USA by a U.S. Merchant Mariner for fellow U.S. Merchant Mariners, ensuring authenticity and relevance in its content.
How does License to Sail work? First, you select your department and the specific license exam you are preparing for. The app then customizes your study material, avoiding redundancy and distractions. The interface consists of four tabs: Info, Plan, Study, and Store. The Info section keeps you updated on the latest app developments. Plan, a concealed tab until you set your testing dates, provides a suggested study timeline leading up to your exams and details on daily study goals. Study is the core section where you spend most of your time. Here, you choose your subject area and subtopics for study through four key modes...
- Study Bank: This mode grants access to all study questions, allowing you to toggle between questions and answers as you memorize. You can bookmark your progress for future reference and categorize questions for focused practice.
- Elimination: This method operates on the process of elimination. Correct answers signal comprehension while incorrect ones are set aside for later review. You continue revisiting missed questions until mastery is achieved.
- Review: Here, you can revisit questions missed in Elimination mode without waiting for them to reappear in subsequent rounds.
- Test: In this mode, you can generate tests or select from past examples to evaluate your knowledge. It is recommended after completing thorough study sessions or to assess your current proficiency level. Test results can also be exported as printable PDFs for further practice.
The Store tab offers various purchase options to acquire subjects individually or as bundles with unlimited access during the app's lifespan. Subscriptions are also available for those seeking temporary access.
All questions within License to Sail are sourced from NMC sample tests, with no affiliation with the U.S. Coast Guard.
*Weekly and Monthly Subscriptions provide access to all content for the respective durations. Payment is processed through iTunes Account upon purchase confirmation. New users can enjoy a complimentary 3-day trial period before selecting a subscription plan. Subscriptions will auto-renew at $4.99 weekly or $9.99 monthly post the trial period unless canceled at least 24 hours prior to expiration. Manage subscription details in Account Settings within the App Store.
